Elastography in Breast Imaging

Despite advances in breast imaging, a significant number of breast cancers are not detected at an early stage. While Mammography and Ultrasound are improving in sensitivity, specificity remains a problem with 80% of biopsies being negative. Mammography misses 50% of all cancers in dense breast tissue. Ultrasound has historically had difficulty visualizing subtle lesions. Elasticity Imaging has been in clinical trials for several years now and has been clinically proven to be highly specific in differentiating between benign and malignant characteristics.
